The MMIWG2S+ portfolio focuses on advancing the Calls for Justice from the National Inquiry and addressing the ongoing violence faced by Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA+ people.
This Portfolio Focuses On:
- Supporting families and survivors
- Advocating for prevention, protection, and accountability
- Ensuring Indigenous-led, trauma-informed, and culturally safe approaches
- Engaging governments on systemic gaps in justice, health, and safety
- Aligning national strategies, including anti-human trafficking efforts, with the Calls for Justice
The PEI Regional Chief is dedicated to ensuring this work is community-directed and reflects the realities of Indigenous women and 2S+ people, particularly in smaller and rural communities.
